“Windows” was one of the first murals commissioned before the creation of the Davis Mural Team. The Natsoulas Gallery was requested by a client to approach Kerry Rowland-Avrech for the update to the historic Andersen Bank Building, located on 2nd and G Streets. Mr. Kidd, the client, wanted to update the windows of the building, but due to constraints of the historical designation, decided to have trompe l’oeil images. Kerry devised four sections, each with the theme agreed upon by the client. The four panels represent the UC Davis community, a State and local retail community, a botanical and children’s section. All of which were to be designed as faux windows, and with plenty of whimsy in each panel. For the Children’s section, the toys refer to such local items as he Toad Hollow, the train and train station, and the common sightings of the hot air ballons coming from Napa. The Retail section has imagery of the vineyards, tourism and beaches famous in Northern and Southern California.
