The Davis Art Garage is a community effort involving over 200 local residents and artists to fill the Regal parking garage with art.
The project consisted of 3 phases, the third of which is yet to be completed. In phase I, a three-story mural was painted in the stairwell, as well as murals in the entryways of the first, second, and third floors of the parking garage.
In Phase II, multiple mosaic benches were installed in front of the Regal movie theatre, all of which are a part of the Davis Art Walk.
The next step for the Art Garage is the completion of Phase III, which wil address visibility and public safety by adding lighting to the E and F corridor.
The Art Garage project was spearheaded by the Davis Cultural Arts and Entertainment Committee, te Davis Mural Team, and the Yolo County Visitors Bureau and it had won a Grassroots Initiative Award of Merit, was judged the best community project in the state, and has competed for a similar national honor.
