Davis Mural Team
Featured Works
All mural paintings on the Davis Art Walk were created by the Davis Mural Team.
The Davis Mural Team strives to bring murals into communities around the country. Interaction, exploration, and sharing art in an outdoor environment is impactful and valuable. The team is composed of a number of talented and recognized painters and muralists in the Davis area including Bill Maul, Guy Diehl, Kerry Rowland-Avrech, Myron Stepehens, Joseph Bellacera, Jennifer Pochinski, Victoria Smith, Ted Fontaine, Kelly Detweiler, Alex Reisfar, and John Natsoulas. Together, they have successfully begun to establish Davis as an art destination in the Central Valley.
Prior to the Davis Mural Team, there was very little public art in Davis. John Natsoulas, founder of the John Natsoulas Gallery, was inspired to change this reality and introduce more art to the city. Initially, Natsoulas organized artists to create public art on private buildings, who then worked on multiple murals and sculptures in town. Then, on February 12th, 2012, Natsoulas and a group of artists (Wes Horn, Nathan Ring, Thomas Chetelat, Finley Fryer, and Monto Kumagai) made history as they placed 12 sculptures and started the Transmedia Art and Sculpture Walk. On that same day, discussions emerged to create a community of painters dedicated to creating public art in Davis, and the Davis Mural Team was born.
Since then, the Davis Mural Team has consisted of a rotating crew of local artists, with new works added to the town of Davis every year.
